BTE/ RIC

RIC- Receiver in canal, hearing aids use a open fit design with a thin wire placing the receiver directly into the ear canal. These are small and really discrete and comfortable, often coming in rechargeable options. They also minimise your own voice as they allow sound to travel out the ear canal.
BTE- Behind The Ear- it’s a more powerful hearing aid which sits behind your ear and is often connected to a ear canal via tube which is connected to a ear mold.
ITE- In The Ear it’s a custom hearing which fits within the outer portion of ear. A ear impression is needed first as this hearing aid is bespoke.
ITC- in the Canal- this is a custom hearing aid which fits inside the ear canal. It will be slightly smaller than a ITE in size.
CIC- Completely In Canal- really discrete small custom hearing aid. Smaller than ITE, ITC. Only the extraction cord will be showing outside the ear canal.
IIC invisible in ear canal - This is Custom fit to your ear, typically it sits in the second bend of the ear canal-practically making it invisible.
